Restrictions Easing Today from 4pm

South East Queensland

From 4pm today, Friday 27 August, restrictions will ease for 11x local government areas (LGAs) of South East Queensland to join the rest of the state with the exception of mask wearing.

Eased restrictions for the South East Queensland LGAs and current restrictions for the rest of Queensland include:

Up to 100 people in your home, including people who live there

200 people are allowed weddings and funerals (1 person per 2m2)
Dancing is allowed
All indoor settings (including restaurants and bars) can have up to 1 person per 2m2 or 100 per cent capacity if they are ticketed and seated events, including stadiums
No density restrictions for businesses that operate only outdoors
Community sport can recommence in full

Roadmap to Easing Restrictions

Mandatory mask requirements remain for SE QLD

For everyone in the above 11x LGAs, you must carry a mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to.

These mask requirements will be reviewed every two weeks.

You must wear a mask:

Indoors: You must wear a mask in indoor spaces (including in indoor spaces of construction sites and in Hutchies' offices) unless it is unsafe to do so. You may remove your mask if you can stay 1.5 metres away from other people.
Outdoors: You must wear a mask when you cannot stay 1.5 metres away from other people (including on Hutchies' sites) unless it is unsafe to do so.
At schools: Masks must be worn by teachers and staff (all schools), plus students in high school.
On public transport and in ride share: You must wear a mask including while waiting for the transport in a public space such as a bus stop, taxi rank or train station

Vaccines are available

For anyone who wishes to get vaccinated, the Queensland Government has a dedicated web portal for anyone over the age of 16 to easily register for vaccination.

Once registered, you will then be contacted by the Queensland Government via email once a booking becomes available for you. Simply click the link in the email, sign up and then confirm a suitable booking time and location.

Updated Federal Safety Commissioner Certificate (OFSC)

Hutchies' accreditation with the Australian Government Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) has been renewed through to July 2030.

This confirms we have met the requirements of the Australian Government building and construction WHS Accreditation Scheme.

Clients may request a copy of Hutchies' certificate in tenders or as part of prequalification processes.

NAWIC Male Allies Program

NAWIC is excited to share a glimpse into their Male Allies Program — designed for men within the construction industry to understand and champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Partnering with Lysander, this self-paced, five digital module course aims to build awareness and knowledge — exploring key concepts, engaging in interactive learning experiences, and developing actionable plans to drive cultural change within their teams and organisations.

By participating in this program, learners will:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of gender disparities, biases and challenges faced by women in male dominated industries.
Recognise the importance of male allyship in creating inclusive workplace culture and fostering diversity.
Acquire practical skills and strategies to support and advocate for female colleagues, challenge biases and promote gender inclusivity.
Explore individual and collective roles in fostering gender inclusion, including personal, social, societal and organisational levels.
Commit to implementing action to promote gender inclusivity, advocate for change and shift the culture.
