Silica Dust Management Imperatives

Safety Alert 060 - Inhalable dust, respirable dust and Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS / Silica Dust) remains an important risk factor for respiratory disease amongst construction workers. Prolonged exposure to RCS can lead to the disease called ‘Silicosis’, which is a loss of lung function due to permanent scarring as a result of inhalation of silica dust over time. Safety Alert 060 has been published to assist with the control of exposure.
